Pendles is the second of five free post-launch heroes coming to Gearbox’s MOBA/shooter hybrid Battleborn. This reptilian character is currently available to both season pass holders and those who purchased the deluxe edition, and will release to the general public on Aug. 4.
Armed with dual kamas, Pendles is a more stealth-inclined character. With the ability to turn invisible, he can sneak up on enemies for melee strikes, as well as launch throwing stars from afar. He can poison his blades and unleash a poison gas cloud, both of which damage and slow enemies. Pendles’ increased movement speed, especially when invisible, could make him adept at collecting shards, the in-match currency shared by the team used to create buildables and activate gear.
Gearbox has also unveiled the next hero coming to Battleborn: Earnest (depicted below), a rooster armed with a grenade launcher. He’ll be releasing within the next few months.
Battleborn was released back in May, and Paste’s own Holly Green enjoyed it, writing in her review that it’s a “bridge for players afraid of the MOBA.”
