Ukiyo Publishing Postpones Console Release of Death Road to Canada Following Toronto Attack

Ukiyo Publishing announced Tuesday that the scheduled console release of Rocketcat Games’ Death Road to Canada has been postponed after Monday’s tragic events in Toronto. The randomly generated zombie brawler was slated to launch for consoles on April 25, but Ukiyo postponed the release as the publisher felt “it would be deeply inappropriate to launch the game at such a time.”

Per the AP: “A rented van plowed down a crowded Toronto sidewalk Monday, killing 10 people and injuring 15 before the driver fled and was quickly arrested in a confrontation with police, Canadian authorities said.” As of Tuesday morning, the 25-year-old suspect has been charged with 10 counts of murder.

“We would like to express our deepest condolences to everyone affected by the tragic events in Toronto,” said Ukiyo Publishing’s Managing Director Paul Hann in a statement.

The publisher is now working to reschedule the game’s console release for a later date.
