ELEAGUE Major: Boston Will Decide the Next Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Champion

Starting on Jan. 12, 24 teams will compete in The ELEAGUE Major: Boston for a chance to become the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive champion. The game’s 12th Major Championship will have developer Valve unveil some new competition stage names: The New Challengers, The New Legends and The New Champions.

“The New Challengers” will run from Jan. 12-15 from the ELEAGUE Arena in Atlanta—live coverage will be presented by Twitch. This stage will feature the eight Minor Champions and Runners Up—Renegades and TyLoo from Asia, Avangar and QB Fire from CIS, Space Soldiers and EnVyUs from Europe, and Misfits and Team Liquid from the Americas, as they compete against the bottom eight finishers from the previous Major: Cloud9, FaZe Clan, G2 Esports, Natus Vincere, Mousesports, Sprout (formerly named Seed), FlipSid3 Tactics and Vega Squadron.

“The New Legends” will continue the following weekend, with the eight new
Challenger teams facing off against the top eight finishers from the previous Major: Gambit Esports, 100 Thieves, Astralis, Virtus.pro, North, BIG, SK Gaming and Fnatic. Finally, the eight new Legends teams to emerge from that will compete at the Agganis Arena in Boston on Jan. 26-28 in “The New Champions” playoff stage.

In addition to coverage of the event on Twitch, TBS will air a five-part series following the contenders seeking glory—the series will air weekly starting Feb. 9.
