Hulu Is Arriving on Nintendo Switch Today

Hulu has officially announced that their streaming service will arrive on Nintendo Switch today. Per Hulu’s official blog, users will be able to watch their favorite television shows “whether they’re at home or on the go.” The application supports Hulu’s Live TV plan, which allows users to watch sporting events and the news live on their device. Hulu is the first streaming service available for Nintendo’s hybrid console.

The announcement comes after Nintendo of America buried the information in a press release promoting several games arriving on Nintendo platforms in the next week. Nintendo has stated in the past that streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Video have not been a priority for the videogame company, focusing rather on their software lineup. Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime said that the release of such streaming applications was up to the streaming companies themselves.

Switch owners will be able to stream shows such as the Emmy-winning The Handmaid’s Tale, the forthcoming Marvel Television show Runaways and classic shows like Futurama, which Hulu snagged from Netflix recently. Nintendo’s press release also promotes the addition of big third-party game releases, including Doom, L.A. Noire and Rocket League.
