The sequel to the the DC superhero fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us was announced with a cinematic trailer today. Again developed by NetherRealm Studios, Injustice 2 will continue the story from the first game, with Batman and his allies working to put the pieces of society back together while struggling against those who want to restore Superman’s regime.

“In Injustice 2, we are introducing new features that will change the way fans play fighting games,” said Ed Boon, creative director on Injustice 2, as well on the recent Mortal Kombat games. Injustice 2 will introduce deep customization aspects to the roster of heroes and villains. Players will be able to personalize the DC characters with unique gear earned throughout the game to change how they look, fight and develop. Injustice 2 will also introduce new characters to the roster, including Gorilla Grodd, Atrocitus and Supergirl, who got a short moment of laser vision in the trailer.

To celebrate the announcement of Injustice 2, anyone who owns the Injustice: Gods Among Us mobile game can unlock Injustice 2 versions of Superman and Aquaman through the in-game challenge modes.

Injustice 2 will be coming in 2017 and we expect to learn more at E3 next week. Check out the badass, Bryan Cranston-voiced reveal trailer below.
