New Injustice 2 Cinematic Trailer Reveals Three New Characters

NetherRealm dropped a new story trailer today for their forthcoming DC Comics fighting game sequel, Injustice 2, over on Playstation.Blog.

The new video, titled “The Lines Are Redrawn,” confirms the inclusion of a playable Darkseid (as a DLC character), Robin and Brainiac. It also hints at the likely return of Bane and the possible addition of Poison Ivy.

The new trailer goes on to both recap some major events from the first game, as well as provide a bit of context as to why these usually friendly heroes are facing off with one another yet again. We see Batman pitted against Robin, Supergirl gets to brood and angrily stare alongside the rest of her returning cast mates, and it’s revealed that Brainiac is likely behind everything as this game’s main antagonist.

NetherRealm creative director Ed Boon teased the trailer’s release yesterday with a tweet containing a GIF from the new video, similar to the way he revealed the title’s release date on the social media platform back on Jan. 6:

The existence of Injustice 2 itself was officially announced last summer, shortly followed by an action-packed gameplay trailer. In August, shortly after the release of the Suicide Squad film, another trailer debuted, this time showing off the moves of Harley Quinn and Deadshot.

Injustice 2 is set for release on May 16 for PS4 and Xbox One. Stay tuned to Paste for more details on the game, as the rest of fighting game’s roster is sure to be announced in the coming months.
