Monster Hunter: World Release Set for January 2018

Prepare to immerse yourself in the world of monster hunting, as Capcom announced the release date of Monster Hunter: World at this year’s Tokyo Game Show. The next installment of the venerable franchise will release for Playstation 4 and Xbox One on Jan. 26, 2018, with a PC release at a later date.

Capcom also announced some preorder details for the game, mentioning that the “Origin Set Armor” and the “Fair Wind Charm talisman” will be included for anyone who preorders digital copies of the game. Per Capcom’s press release:

The newly announced Digital Deluxe Edition for North America is MSRP $69.99 and includes the digital game, plus additional customizable options that can be used in-game: a Samurai Set skin, three gestures, two sticker sets, plus an extra face paint and hair style option for the hunter. The PS4 version of the Digital Deluxe Edition also includes 14 weapon-themed PSN avatars. The contents for the Digital Deluxe Edition will also be available for purchase separately on January 26.

The North American physical Collector’s Edition includes a physical copy of the game, voucher for the additional customizable options from the Digital Deluxe Edition (a Samurai Set skin, three gestures, two sticker sets, plus an extra face paint and hair style option for the hunter), a 32 page hardcover art book, high-quality flagship monster statue, and digital soundtrack code all bundled in a custom collector’s box for MSRP $149.99.

Not included in the press release is the fact that our friends in Japan can get a Monster Hunter: World Playstation 4 Pro (per Kotaku), releasing this year on Dec. 7. Seeing how the series is significantly more popular in Japan than it is Stateside, we aren’t holding our breath to see that lovely red-and-black console reach our shores anytime soon.

Finally, Capcom also showed off a new trailer for the game at TGS, which showed off many of the new monsters that players will encounter, and locales such as base of operations Astera and the “beautiful but dangerous” Coral Highlands stage. Check out the trailer below.
