8Bitdo Controllers are Now Compatible with Your Nintendo Switch

The modern-day home of wireless retro controllers, 8Bitdo, now has controller compatibility with Nintendo Switch.

While the Switch still doesn’t have Virtual Console, you can play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in retro style, thanks to a firmware update released today. The NES30, FC30, SNES30, NES30Pro and FC30Pro 8Bitdo controllers can now be used on Nintendo Switch; this update expands their compatibility from Windows, MacOS, Steam and Android.

Both the NES30Pro and FC30Pro controllers offer a full button mapping for Switch games, but non-pro models hay not be compatible with every game due to lack of buttons. 8Bitdo controllers also do not support HD rumble, six axis, motion control or amiibo scanning.

To get your hands on the latest firmware update, head on over to the Support section of the 8Bitdo website, hit the firmware tab and download “Firmware v4.0” for your corresponding controller.

Back in March, 8Bitdo released an adapter update for the NES Classic to make Switch controllers compatible with the raved-about mini system. For more details, check out our coverage.
