Pokken Tournament is Coming to Switch this Fall

One of Nintendo’s most iconic game franchises of all time is finally coming to Nintendo Switch in the form of arcade fighter Pokken Tournament Deluxe, due out on Sept. 22.

This high-action, detailed fighter is a remastered version of the Wii U game, featuring five additional characters, and new online and local multiplayer options. Nintendo has also announced that the first look of the title will be at this year’s E3 Expo next week with live demoes at the booth, Treehouse Live coverage and an invitational tournament.

Adding to the original 16-strong roster are Darkrai, Scizor, Empoleon, Croagunk and Pokemon Sun and Moon’s Decidueye. The addition of these five characters brings Pokken Tournament Deluxe’s roster up to 21; there is no news if this roster will continue to grow.

Thanks to the versatility of the Switch, several new multiplayer modes are being added to the remaster. Play with a friend locally in tabletop or dock mode by sharing a joy con, or play online in 3v3 battles, online ranked or private group matches.

In addition to Super Mario Odyssey, Pokken Tournament Deluxe will be on the E3 Expo floor for live demoes, and for those who can’t make it out to the show, it will be livestreamed on Nintendo Treehouse Live.

To make it even sweeter, Nintendo will host a third invitational tournament at E3 Expo in addition to its ARMS and Splatoon 2 tournaments. The tournament will feature eight YouTube and Twitch stars, to be announced, in four duo teams. Teams will be randomly drafted. Catch it online on June 14 at 1:30 p.m. EDT before the ARMS Open Invitational tournament that evening.
