Pokemon Go Adventure Week Begins this Thursday

Augmented reality hit Pokemon Go is getting ready for its next in-game event—a journey to walk the equivalent of the distance to the edge of the solar system. Adventure Week begins May 18.

The Pokemon Go blog announced the upcoming event today, claiming players have already walked more than 9.8 billion miles—about 105 astronomical units, according to NASA. The “edge” of the solar system is the Oort Cloud, roughly 1,000 AU away from the sun, or 92.96 trillion miles.

Don’t worry trainers, you’ll get there someday.

During Adventure Week, players will enjoy perks such as increased odds to catch rock-types like Omanyte, Kabuto and Aerodactyl, four times more candies collected by buddy Pokemon, additional items at every PokeStop and 50 percent off Pokeballs in the in-game shop.

Players will also receive an exclusive in-game avatar item to get into the grinding—uh, we mean, adventuring spirit.

Adventure Week begins May 18 at 4 p.m. EST, and will end May 25 at 4 p.m. EST. For everything Pokemon Go, make sure to follow Paste on Facebook and Twitter.
