Pokémon Sun and Moon Legendaries Revealed

Games News

Solgaleo and Lunala will be the main legendaries in Pokémon Sun and Moon, releasing Nov. 18.

The Pokémon Company described Solgaleo as “an emissary of the sun.” It is the first Pokémon to have the ability Full Metal Body, which prevents its stats from being lowered by an opponent’s moves or ability. Its signature move, Sunsteel Strike, is an attack that charges at an opponent with the force of a meteor, disregarding the target’s ability

Lunala, in contrast to Solgaleo, is “an emissary of the moon.” Its ability, Shadow Shield, reduces the damage of any move hitting it when Lunala is at full health. Lunala’s signature Moongeist Beam attack releases an ominous beam of light that disregards the target’s Ability.

Pokémon Sun and Moon will take place in the Alola Region, which takes clear inspiration from Hawaii and the Pacific islands. These games will also have a more inclusive character selection than most previous entries, most of which only allowed you to play as a white character.

Pokémon Sun and Moon will also be putting a slight spin on the Pokédex. In this game, the Pokédex is actually fused with the legendary Pokémon Rotom and has its own personality. The Pokédex will also feature a real-world QR code scanner using the camera on the 3DS. Using the QR code scanner players can add Pokémon to their Pokédex to find where they are in the Alola Region.
