Fans of the Tim Schafer cult classic Psychonauts are going to have to wait a little longer for the sequel. Originally planned for release during Q3 of next year, Double Fine Productions confirmed Thursday that their crowdfunded game will no longer come out in 2018.
“We love the game we’re making and we want to make sure that Psychonauts 2 is something you’ll love too—a game that carries on the legacy of Psychonauts in a meaningful and special way,” the update reads. “We’re making great progress, but we want to make sure the game has the time it needs to shine.”
Double Fine also took the opportunity to give an update on some backer rewards, and to show off some of said progress in the game, showcasing some artwork of the Aquato family, the family of protagonist Raz. Double Fine has not committed to a concrete release window for Psychonauts 2 as of yet, but you can check out these updates in video form below.
