Microsoft Has Canceled Scalebound

It appears the longtime radio-silent Scalebound from Platinum Games has been canceled.

Microsoft made an announcement to the press today after cancellation rumors were reported on by Kotaku, explaining:

After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for Scalebound. We’re working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including Halo Wars 2, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves and other great experiences.

The game was announced during Microsoft’s press conference at E3 2014. The first gameplay footage arrived the next year at Gamescom, along with a release window aimed at late 2016. Little had been seen of the Xbox and PC title in the meantime, and it had since been delayed into 2017.

The game was notably absent from last week’s Xbox Wire post that specifically discussed the future of the Xbox One, and the official Scalebound page had been removed from the Xbox website.
