Shadow of the Tomb Raider Officially Announced

After details leaked of the game’s existence on Wednesday, Square Enix has officially announced the return of Lara Croft in Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

Square Enix teased an announcement related to the Tomb Raider on the franchise’s official website, but the site’s source code revealed the key details announced Thursday morning. Shortly before the announcement, the title’s teaser trailer leaked thanks to a brave French bootlegger who recorded it in a theater. The Tomb Raider film adaptation releases tomorrow, so it would make sense to see the teaser trailer for the game screen before it.

Outside of a few sharply edited images and a new logo, few details about the actual game are known at the moment, but Square will unveil more on April 27 during three exclusive reveal events where fans could get a chance to go hands-on with the “climactic finale.” Unlike the previous two titles, Shadow of the Tomb Raider will not be a Xbox timed exclusive, with Square choosing to let the game launch on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on the same day.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is scheduled for release on Sept. 14. Check out the snippet of a trailer below.
