Skyrim: Special Edition is Free to Play on Xbox One and Steam This Weekend

Bethesda must have their calendars stuck at 2011, what with all of the Skyrimming going on this year. The souped up Special Edition came to Xbox One and Playstation 4 late last year, with versions for Nintendo Switch and Playstation VR coming later in 2017. At this point, we’re surprised we can’t play Skyrim on a microwave. And out of the blue, Bethesda decided to continue the Skyrimming by announcing a free weekend for Xbox One and Steam players.

Check out Bethesda’s announcement tweet for the Xbox One version below:

If you somehow still haven’t tried the acclaimed and popular western RPG, you have a short timeframe in which to do so. The Xbox website details how the offer is for Xbox Live Gold Members from now until Sunday, Sep. 10 at 2:59 a.m. EDT. Steam players, on the other hand, will have until that Sunday at 4:00 p.m. On both services, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition will be on sale at 50 percent the price until the end of Monday, Sep. 18.

As mentioned, Skyrim is coming to the Switch and Playstation VR. We suspect that a port for graphing calculators will come soon after.
