Steam Summer Sale is Live! Here are Some Great Deals

Games News

Steam’s 2016 Summer Sale, titled the Steam Summer Picnic Sale, is live and running now until July 4 at 10 a.m. PST. There are store-wide deals on hundreds of games, though as has been the trend for some time, there are no longer daily deals or flash sales.

This sale doesn’t even have some meta game to play that Steam usually includes. The deals are still good, though. Check out some of the great deals we’ve found below, and keep in mind that Steam is experiencing considerable slow-down, and sometimes just failing altogether, due to increased traffic at the time of this writing.

Life is Strange Complete Season ($9.99, 50% off) – A beautiful coming-of-age story about young women that addresses themes of death, moving on, suicide, and bullying with incredible nuance.

Firewatch ($13.39, 33% off) – From earlier this year, Firewatch is the poignant story of a man who tries to escape his past by taking a job in the Wyoming wilderness as a fire lookout.

– Various titles in the Assassin’s Creed series are 35 to 75 percent off. Our recommendation: Freedom Cry ($7.49, 50% off) or Syndicate ($25.99, 35% off).

Dishonored: Definitive Edition ($11.99, 40% off) – With Dishonored 2 coming this November, this is a great chance to play the original with all of the expansions and even prettier textures.

Adr1ft ($9.99, 50% off) – A first-person exploration, narrative heavy game that has been compared to Gravity. It works both with the HTC Vive VR setup and with just a normal computer.

Fallout 4 ($29.99, 50% off) – It’s Fallout 4.

DOOM ($35.99, 40% off) – Considering this game came out just a month ago this price is fantastic. Patrick Lindsey, in his review for Paste, wrote “DOOM (2016) isn’t a departure or a reimagining. It’s something much better, much more pure. DOOM (2016) is a homecoming. And boy, does it feel good to be home.”

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt ($24.99, 50% off) – One of the biggest, most critically acclaimed games of 2015, which just received its final expansion a few weeks ago, Blood and Wine.

Rise of the Tomb Raider ($38.99, 35% off) – The follow-up to the 2013 reboot continues with a more thoughtful take on Lara’s character.

Soma ($14.99, 50% off) – From the studio behind Amnesia: The Dark Descent, this game uses the horror genre to tell a beautiful story of what it means to be human.

Mirror’s Edge ($4.99, 75% off) – A modern classic, the predecessor to this year’s Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst amazes with its empowering movement system and beautiful dystopia of surveillance and suppression.
