Take to the Skies of Azeroth in Interactive Warcraft Film Trailer

Which do you want first, the good news or the bad?

The bad news is that Warcraft, the big-screen adaptation of Blizzard Entertainment’s obscenely popular massive multiplayer online game, World of Warcraft, won’t see theaters for another year. The good news is that Legendary Pictures and Blizzard have allowed us a must-see peek into Warcraft’s world via a dazzling new interactive trailer created by Industrial Light & Magic’s xLAB.

The official 360-degree video, best experienced via Google’s Chrome browser, places you on the back of a mighty gryphon as it wings its way through the skies above the sprawling capital city of Stormwind. Arrow buttons in the top left corner of the video window allow you to look around, and you can pause to adjust your view at any time. The trailer is loaded with immersive detail—hear your gryphon roar and watch its shadow pass over the rooftops below.

Warcraft, written and directed by Duncan Jones (Source Code), stars Dominic Cooper (Dracula Untold), Ben Foster (Lone Survivor), Toby Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Paula Patton (2 Guns), Robert Kazinsky (Pacific Rim) and Travis Fimmel (Vikings). Jones has described the film as the story of first contact between men and orcs. The director also recently revealed that the official Warcraft trailer is due out this November:

Until then, enjoy your gryphon’s-eye view of the world of Warcraft. If this film is anywhere near as engrossing as its interactive trailer, we’re in for quite a show.

Warcraft is set for a June 10, 2016 release. Experience the interactive trailer above.
