Release Date for First Episode of Telltale’s Guardians of the Galaxy Announced

Telltale Games announced today that Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series episode one, “Tangled Up in Blue,” will be out on April 18.

The first of five episodes will go for $4.99. The studio also gave the game’s season pass and physical disc version a release date of May 2 in the U.S., and May 5 internationally. Along with the game’s date, Telltale also gave us a few new images (which you can check out both above and below), confirming villain Thanos’ role in this particular Guardians adventure. So far, we know the story centers around our heroes’ discovery of a powerful artifact that each of them desire for different reasons, as does a villain who is “the last of her kind.”

All screenshots shown so far suggest the game might take place in its own continuity (despite borrowing the aesthetic of James Gunn’s films), as Groot is adult-sized and the Guardians’ group has already formed. Technically, it could take place during the first movie or way later in the MCU timeline … or the game could simply invent any reason it likes. Until we play or the developer speaks on this, we can’t really know.

“Tangled Up in Blue” will hit Xbox One, PS4, PC, iOS and Android in exactly three weeks. Keep an eye on Paste, as the game will also be getting a trailer this Thursday, March 30, and find its new key art and packaging art below via Telltale.
