The upcoming revival of classic 8-bit era series Wonder Boy is the loving restorative work of two development teams with a passion for classic games. Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap is coming out next month, and leading up to its big debut, the makers have shared many of the game’s half-human/animal playable characters. Today however they drew the curtain back on their only other fully human hero, revealing that Wonder Boy will now be joined by Wonder Girl.
As with Wonder Boy, Wonder Girl can be played in either the updated cartoon art style, or in the original 8-bit. The team created an old school sprite just for her. Her inclusion is an unprecedented event in the Wonder Boy series, but the reboot, meticulously recreated from the old games with modern technology, is the perfect opportunity to introduce her. Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap comes out on April 18, 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch.
