Yooka-Laylee Gets Release Date in New Trailer, Might Be Coming to Nintendo Switch
Image via Playtonic GamesYooka-Laylee, the unabashed Banjo-Kazooie throwback from the game’s original creators, has finally revealed its release date in its latest trailer.
The new trailer shows off a casino-themed level, with slot machines, roulette wheels, lots of collectibles and a Donkey Kong-style mine cart section, because this game has classic Rare running through its every vein. The trailer also reveals that if you preorder the game, you’ll get instant access to the “Toybox” demo, “a taste of the platforming mechanics set to appear in the full game in a self-contained, spoiler-free sandbox.”
There is some bad news, though: the Wii U version of the game has been canceled due to “unforeseen technical issues” (read: nobody owns a Wii U). The good news is that the team is “working very closely with Nintendo” to bring Yooka-Laylee to the Switch. The team at Playtonic Games said that there will be more news on that front in 2017. Maybe we’ll see Yooka-Laylee pop up during the Nintendo Switch Presentation in January.
Yooka-Laylee will be out on April 11, 2017, almost two years after its Kickstarter debuted, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Watch the game’s new trailer below, and its E3 trailer here.
