Alicia Keys Set to Produce Biopic Based on Choreographer Alvin Ailey Biography

Singer-songwriter Alica Keys is gearing up to produce a biopic about the legendary dancer and choreographer Alvin Ailey based on the acclaimed Jennifer Dunning biography Alvin Ailey: A Life in Dance, according to Deadline.
Fox Searchlight is close to inking a deal with Keys and her AK Worldwide production company along with iDeal Partners. AK Worldwide’s Keys, Judy Kinberg and Susan Lewis will serve as producers, along with Rachel Cohen and Jana Edelbaum of iDeal Partners. The Ailey organization’s Artistic Directors Robert Battle and Judith Jamison will aid the producers to breathe life into the late Ailey’s life journey and celebrated work.
Speaking on the future project, Battle stated, “We are thrilled to be working with these incredible partners to bring the screen the amazing journey and revolutionary choreography of Alvin Ailey, whose life and legacy profoundly impacted people of all backgrounds around the world.”
Along with this latest film project, Keys has been winning audiences over with her charm and passion on the latest season of The Voice. Keys is currently working on new music.
