Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga Set to Reprise Their The Conjuring Roles in Annabelle 3

Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are set to reprise their The Conjuring roles in the forthcoming third installment of spinoff series Annabelle, per Deadline.

Wilson and Farmiga played paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren in the first two The Conjuring installments, and are now set to reprise their roles in The Conjuring 3, as well as the still-untitled third Annabelle film, both of which are set for release in 2019. However, unlike in the main franchise, it seems they will be appearing in more of a supporting capacity in the third Annabelle title. Their roles in the forthcoming Annabelle 3 will mark their first appearances in the spinoff series, which focuses on the titular haunted doll the investigator duo found in the first The Conjuring in 2013.

That film, as well as its 2016 sequel, were both successful enough to spawn The Conjuring universe, which has grossed nearly $1.6 billion worldwide to date. Last month, the franchise landed yet another massive box-office milestone with The Nun, which is currently this year’s highest-grossing horror film worldwide.

Gary Dauberman, who wrote the first two Annabelle movies, as well as record-breaking 2017 horror hit It, wrote the script and is set to make his directorial debut with the forthcoming third Annabelle title. James Wan is producing for Atomic Monster and Peter Safran is producing for The Safran Company, while Michael Clear and Michelle Morrissey will executive produce.

The project starts filming this week ahead of a July 3, 2019, release.
