Dolph Lundgren Has Been Cast to Break Aquaman

According to THR, Dolph Lundgren will portraying his latest strongman in a villainous turn in Aquaman. Joining the evil ranks of Patrick Wilson as Orm/Ocean Master and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Lundgren will be playing the role of King Nereus, ruler of Xebel.

King Nereus wants to kill Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and claim Mera (Amber Heard), Aquaman’s love interest, as his own. This set-up seems to be an attempt to make Aquaman look a little tougher (the bar is pretty low in that department), since he’s got to fight the man who killed Apollo Creed. And if someone doesn’t work “I’ll break you” into the script, they’ve seriously missed a golden opportunity.

Aquaman is scheduled for a December 2018 release. James Wan is set to direct, with Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe and Temuera Morrison also set to star.
