There have been a lot of movies about Batman, so many, in fact, that it’s kind of surprising they haven’t run out of names yet. Thank goodness we have Ben Affleck, who came up with a new name that’s also remarkably simple. Affleck, who is currently working on a standalone Batman film with DC which he will star in and direct, confirmed that the Batman film will be called The Batman.
Affleck broke the news during a press junket for the similarly titled The Accountant. According to Affleck, though, the title is not set in stone. “That’s what we’re going with now. I might change it,” he said. Affleck also revealed that things seem to be going well on the script, which is being written now. “We’re working on the script,” he said. “I’m really excited about it.”
In the film, Affleck’s Batman will face off against Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke. Other than that, details are scarce about the film. Affleck’s direction does offer some promise—he did win an Oscar, after all. Check out the clip below to see Affleck confirm the name.
