It‘s Bill Skarsgård Set to Star in Crime Drama Gilded Rage

After his breakout role as classic horror haunt Pennywise the Clown in 2017’s It, Bill Skarsgård is back to play another alleged murderous villain in the forthcoming true-crime drama Gilded Rage, per Variety.

Based on The Billionaire’s Vinegar author Benjamin Wallace’s Vanity Fair article, the film details the story behind the famous murder of investment banker Thomas Gilbert Sr., whose death was originally thought to be a suicide. But further investigation suggested something more sinister.

Skarsgård will play the victim’s son, Thomas Gilbert Jr., who was arrested for his father’s murder and is still awaiting trial today.

While he originally pleaded not guilty for second-degree murder, Gilbert Jr. is still resisting plea deals while his mother, who is also the wife of the slain Gilbert Sr., pays for his defense.

Skarsgård is also known for his roles in Hulu series Castle Rock and in Sundance flick Assassination Nation. He’s also just wrapped production on the Netflix adaptation of The Devil All the Time alongside co-stars Tom Holland, Chris Evans, Mia Wasikowska and Robert Pattinson.

Meanwhile, Skarsgård is also prepping to reprise his iconic clown role in the It sequel, It: Chapter Two, set for release this fall.

Director Charlie McDowell, best known for 2017’s The Discovery and 2014’s The One I Love, is set to direct and co-wrote the film’s script with Max Frye and Justin Lader.

Jake Gyllenhaal and Riva Marker are producing the movie through Nine Stories, while Jeremy Stickler from Conde Nast Entertainment will join in on producing, as well.
