This Deadpool 2 Teaser Hilariously Channels Bob Ross

Today’s new teaser for Deadpool 2 may not be what you expected—though after watching it, you may wonder how it could be anything else. Donning a curly wig and a tucked-in button-down shirt, Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson as Deadpool as Bob Ross emulates the soft-spoken demeanor of the late painter from his popular television show.

Off-brand humor is entirely on-brand for Deadpool, with sporadic pop culture references and humor related to drugs and masturbation, all while maintaining Ross’s relaxing tone. The scene is interrupted midway, and we get a short glimpse of the actual film. For brief seconds, we spot familiar supporting characters from the first Deadpool in various action shots: Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand) in her X-Men uniform, Blind Al (Leslie Uggams) and Weasel (T. J. Miller) wielding guns, and even taxi driver Dopinder (Karan Soni) joining in on the fun. Additionally, we get a look at new character Domino (Zazie Beetz), and a small tease of Josh Brolin’s Cable at the very end.

When we return to the Joy of Painting homage, Deadpool shows off his masterpiece, a Thanksgiving-themed teaser poster that Reynolds revealed last week.

Given Reynolds’ apparent obsession with Ross, as judged from his pinned tweet, this teaser comes as little surprise. Deadpool 2 (or “The Untitled Deadpool Sequel,” as Fox’s website calls it—we hope this is the final name) was directed by David Leitch (John Wick, Atomic Blonde) and will release on June 1, 2018.
