Fred Savage Tears into the First Trailer for Fox’s PG-13 Once Upon a Deadpool

This Christmas, Fox is re-releasing Deadpool 2 in theaters as the PG-13 Once Upon a Deadpool, and Fred Savage is here to help ring in the holidays.

“Nobody does childlike innocence like you, Fred,” says Fox’s Marvel antihero in the trailer to Savage, who’s tied up and kidnapped in a tribute to his role in The Princess Bride.

“You’re Marvel licensed by Fox. It’s like if the Beatles were produced by Nickelback,” Savage strikes back, proving that Deadpool won’t be losing his edge in the family-friendly Deadpool 2 re-edit, which will also include new scenes featuring Savage.

Deadpool distributor Fox is currently amidst an 11-digit acquisition deal by Marvel Studios owners Disney, and it looks like the forthcoming PG-13 re-release could very well serve as a test run for the unmistakably crude Deadpool joining the MCU somewhere down the line.

Fox is pushing Once Upon a Deadpool as its major Christmas release; the title was originally slated for Dec. 21, replacing Alita: Battle Angel, which was then pushed back to Valentine’s Day of next year.

Once Upon a Deadpool arrives in theaters Dec. 12 for a 12-day run through Dec. 24, with $1 of each ticket sold going to Fudge Cancer, a charity perhaps better known as the more R-rated Fuck Cancer, that provides cancer prevention, early detection and support.
