Check Out This Featurette On How Disney Turned An LA Studio Into The Jungle Book World

Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book is just the latest success in what has been an outstanding year for Disney—from The Force Awakens to Zootopia to the upcoming Captain America: Civil War, the House of Mouse has rarely been more dominant. And when you’ve got the deepest pockets and best track record in the industry, you can afford to do things like take an empty warehouse in Los Angeles and turn it into the Indian jungle.

In the above featurette, various cast and crew from The Jungle Book talk a little bit about how that process happened, and you can see behind-the-scenes footage of what everything looked like before the visual effects were added. Essentially, it’s a lot of Neel Sethi as Mowgli running around, interacting with stuffed animals, and at one point being passed down a line of men wearing blue morph suits—almost as creepy as being passed down a line of monkeys, which is what the aforementioned scene becomes in the film.

It’s truly amazing to see what movie magic can accomplish. Kudos to Favreau and the Disney team for going big on this one.
