Downton Abbey Makes an Elegant Return in First Teaser for Film Adaptation

The Crawley estate makes an elegant return in the first teaser for the Downton Abbey film, a continuation of the acclaimed British series set for the big screen.

The original Downton Abbey followed the aristocratic Crawley family and the servants who work for them at their Edwardian country estate. The show ran for six seasons from 2010-2015, garnering three Golden Globe Awards, 15 Primetime Emmy Awards and 69 Emmy nominations, making Downton Abbey the most-nominated non-U.S. show in Emmy history.

The lavish new teaser centers on the titular estate, brought back in top shape for its big film debut. The film will reunite the original principal cast of the hit series, as well as creator Julian Fellowes, who scripted the film adaptation. Michael Engler, who helmed four episodes of the original series, returned to direct.

Focus Features will release Downton Abbey in theaters on Sept. 20, 2019.
