Eighth Grade Star Elsie Fisher Joins Animated Addams Family Movie

Eighth Grade topliner Elsie Fisher has joined the voice cast of MGM’s The Addams Family, as first reported by THR.

Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan are co-directing the movie, which is now in production in Vancouver and due to be released in October of 2019.

The story will follow the Addams family, whose lives turn chaotic when they must face off against a devious reality TV host while also preparing for the arrival of their extended family.

The account of the Addams family began as single-panel gag illustrations in the New Yorker. Immediately popular, the series was turned into a television show in the 1960s that starred John Astin and Carolyn Jones, an animated series in the early 1970s, and two movies in the early 1990s that starred Anjelica Huston, Raul Julia and Christina Ricci.

Oscar Isaac and Charlize Theron will voice Gomez and Morticia Addams, respectively. Chloe Grace Moretz will voice their daughter, Wednesday Addams, with Finn Wolfhard as her brother, Pugsley Addams. Nick Kroll has been cast as Uncle Fester and Bette Midler as Grandmama. Allison Janney will voice the Addams family’s arch nemesis, Margaux Needler.

Fisher will voice Margaux’s daughter, Parker Needler.

Fisher is no stranger to the world of animation. Before her celebrated role as 13-year-old Kayla in Bo Burnham’s directorial debut, the young actress voiced the character of Agnes in the first two Despicable Me movies.
