Avengers: Infinity War Release Date Bumped Up

The wait for Avengers: Infinity War got a bit shorter today, and not just because another page came off the calendar. Marvel Studios announced Thursday that their huge new Marvel Cinematic Universe entry is coming out a week early, opening on April 27, rather than May 4, as originally slated. Infinity War will hit theaters worldwide on that same April date.

The news first broke via a silly Twitter exchange between Marvel Studios and MCU poster boy Robert Downey Jr., aka Iron Man.

What we’re taking away from this is that J.A.R.V.I.S. runs the Marvel Studios Twitter.

The studio’s announcement sums up the plot of Infinity War as follows:

As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment—the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain.

Infinity War hype levels have been slowly and steadily intensifying for quite some time now. The film’s first trailer dropped in November, swiftly becoming the most-viewed trailer of all time. It was followed in February by a 30-second Super Bowl spot. You can see both trailers below.
