Movies News John Carpenter

Halloween just got a little bit spookier. SpectiCast has announced that it has teamed up with Compass International Pictures and Trancas International Films to bring John Carpenter’s Halloween back to theaters through the remainder of October. Sequels Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers will also be screened in some theaters.

A newly restored and remastered digital print of the film will be screened, alongside an exclusive introduction from John Carpenter himself. Halloween tells the story of Michael Myers, a man who escapes from a sanitarium and makes his way to a small town where he stalks some of the local babysitters. In fact, before the now-iconic slasher received its final name, it was actually called The Babysitter Murders.

Halloween has become a cult classic in the years since its 1978 release, and is one of the most successful independent films of all time. Its legacy can still be seen in slasher films today. The original film has returned to theaters annually over the last few years, but the addition of the two sequels is new, and may stem from the success the first film has had in its return.

The Halloween films will be appear on almost 500 theaters in countries all over the world. Click here to find out if they’re playing near you.
