The Roles of a Lifetime: Liam Neeson

With his powerful frame, craggy good looks and gargled-with-rocks voice, Liam Neeson might have been genetically engineered to wear armor (Excalibur), lead an 18th-century Scottish revolt (Rob Roy) and hurl lightning bolts (Clash of the Titans), but his most critically acclaimed role was Oskar Schindler, the rake-turned-redeemer in the 1993 Holocaust epic Schindler’s List. Then in 2008, as the father who hunts down his daughter’s kidnappers in Taken, the Irish actor seemed to draw from all those personae to create a new niche for himself: part wrathful god, part righter of wrongs. Now Neeson regularly smites 21st-century bad guys, including those in his latest action film, A Walk Among the Tombstones. (Also, the guy’s played his fair share of holy men.) Take a walk among Neeson’s career in the attached gallery.
