Kristen Bell and Kelsey Grammer Share Awkward Family Time in the Trailer For Netflix’s Like Father

A day after Father’s Day, it would seem Netflix is trying to cram one more ounce of Dad celebration into your day with the release of the first trailer for Like Father.

The Netflix original film stars Kristen Bell as a woman recently left at the alter, who reconnects with the father she’s never known (Kelsey Grammer), missing from her life since she was 5 years old. After getting completely drunk together, she’s stuck with dear old Dad, attending the romantic cruise that was supposed to be in honor of her honeymoon. From there on out, it looks like your typical “putting my life back together” dramedy, complete with a new love interest along the way, apparently played by Seth Rogen.

If you think about it, Like Father almost makes a strange companion piece with 2008’s classic Forgetting Sarah Marshall. In that film, it was Kristen Bell who dumped a sadsack Jason Segel, who went off on a vacation to get his life back together. This time around, the shoe is apparently on the other foot.

And yes, that is in fact the well-known musical cue from Black Mirror that you’re hearing in the trailer’s opening moments. Why they decided to stick it in the trailer for a Kristen Bell movie, we couldn’t tell you. What we CAN tell you is that Like Father hits the streaming service on Aug. 3, 2018.
