Oscar Winner Michael Keaton is slated to star in the CBS Films and Lionsgate big screen adaptation of the American Assassin graphic novel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The movie, which has been in development for quite some time, is adapted from the first in a line of graphic novels written by Vince Flynn. American Assassin centers on Mitch Rapp, a CIA counter-terrorist operative who is recruited after his girlfriend dies in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103. Rapp is trained by Keaton’s character Stan Hurley, a former CIA operative and Cold War veteran.
Homeland director and executive producer Michael Cuesta will direct the film. The Americans writer Stephen Schiff has written the screenplay. Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Nick Wechsler will produce the feature.
