Jon Heder Says Napoleon Dynamite Sequel is Possible

Movies News Napoleon Dynamite

All of our wildest dreams are coming true: Jon Heder has given us hope that a Napoleon Dynamite sequel might happen.

The actor who brought Napoleon Dynamite to life appeared on BBC Music Get Playing today and was asked about a continuation of the 2004 cult classic.

“Nothing’s written on paper,” Heder said. “It’s written in the stars. We have yet to translate the stars. But, who knows? It could happen. I feel that the stories of Napoleon aren’t completely over.”

Napoleon’s stories were given another shot in 2012 when Fox aired a mere six episodes of its half-hour animated Napoleon Dynamite series (with the original cast lending voices), but it didn’t strike well with audiences, nor with us at Paste. Maybe more Napoleon would fare better in another movie. We would love to see if Uncle Rico is still living in ‘82.

Heder also took the opportunity during the interview to take a stance on the streaming vs. buying music debate. “We all know Napoleon has some moves, but how do you, Jon Heder, feel about music?” asked the interviewer. “Oh, music is my soul, my blood. It really is,” answered Heder. “I have a huge music collection. I still believe in just owning the music as opposed to streaming it.”

Napoleon Dynamite is no stranger to owning the music. Hopefully, we’ll get to see him do so again someday.
