Natalie Portman is pulling double duty: The Oscar winner will direct and star in dual roles as Esther and Pauline Friedman, the identical twin sisters behind the rival “Ask Ann Landers” and “Dear Abby” advice columns, as Collider first reported.
The forthcoming movie will be Portman’s directorial follow-up to her debut, 2015’s A Tale of Love and Darkness, adapted from Israeli author Amos Oz’s autobiographical novel. Katie Robbins (The Affair) penned the new film’s script.
Portman starred in Annihilation earlier this year, Paste’s top film of the year so far, and she will also appear in Xavier Dolan’s recut The Death and Life of John F. Donovan and the musical drama Vox Lux later this year.
No word yet on when Portman’s biopic will kick off production.
