With a successful string of original shows, Netflix has been shaping how binge-watchers view television. Now, the company, which recently began its foray into original films, unveils its newest offering, Special Correspondents.
The film, which premieres April 29, was written and directed by Ricky Gervais and stars Eric Bana as a struggling radio journalist who fakes front-line war reports from his studio to further his career. It almost sounds partially inspired by the recent Brian Williams affair.
Gervais, who co-stars, told The Independent that, “even though it would certainly be billed as a comedy, [the film is] not a big broad loud obvious one…it’s a bit satirical. A bit dramatic. A bit romantic.”
