Americans just can’t get enough of Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
This spring, audiences were treated to RGB, a documentary about the legendary Supreme Court justice, and her accomplishments as a judge and women’s rights advocate. Later this year, she’s getting the Hollywood treatment in the form of On the Basis of Sex, an Oscar-ready biopic starring Felicity Jones as RGB and a cast of big names including Armie Hammer, Justin Theroux, Sam Waterston and Kathy Bates. The fiery first trailer dropped Monday, and you can watch it below.
The RGB documentary offered a more broad overlook at Ginsburg’s eventful life, while On the Basis of Sex is a more specific examination of a case (also featured in RGB) in which she argued, beside her husband, in favor of fathers’ rights before the U.S. Court of Appeals. Armie Hammer stars as Marty Ginsburg. Mimi Leder (Deep Impact, The Leftovers) is the film’s director, working from a script by Daniel Stiepleman.
It’s particularly buzzy that the On the Basis of Sex trailer should drop today, just a week after President Trump announced Brett Kavanaugh as his pick to replace retiring Supreme Court judge Anthony M. Kennedy. 2018 marks 25 years on the court for Justice Ginsburg, who turned 85 in March.
On the Basis of Sex hits select theaters this Christmas, while RGB is still showing in limited theaters. Again, you can check out the first trailer and poster for On the Basis of Sex below.
