Rachel Song had a hand in producing not one but two Sundance films this year – Christina Choe’s highly anticipated Nancy, starring Andrea Riseborough and Steve Buscemi, and Jim Parsons’ passion project A Kid Like Jake, starring Claire Danes, Priyanka Chopra, and Octavia Spencer. Song joined us to talk about those two films, and her ambitions for her career in producing. I asked her if she looked back in twenty years, what she’d like to see in her work. “I’d wish that at least one of the films I made,” she said, “would really help make a difference in society, or at least to help start a conversation. And another thing is, if I could help change the film industry a little bit in China. To help make it healthier, and also to help grow the independent film market in China.”
