Even with nearly 50 years on screen, Michael Douglas’ off-screen contribution to film is arguably as significant—producing One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is a monumental contribution in itself. But Douglas also has given us some indelible film characters, many of them emotionally compromised if not downright unsavory, like “D-Fens” Foster, the spiritually eviscerated everyman in Falling Down, and the morally bankrupt Gordon Gekko in Wall Street. His latest role, in the Marvel Comics-inspired Ant-Man, is an unexpected departure.
