Movies News Tomb Raider

A few months ago, we got the news that Alicia Vikander would be the new Lara Croft. Today it was announced that the new Tomb Raider will hit theaters on March 16, 2018, via Entertainment Weekly.

MGM and Warner Bros. are producing the adaptation of the popular videogame, which was previously adapted in 2001, with a 2003 sequel, Angelina Jolie starring in both films. Roar Uthang (The Wave) is directing, and newcomer writer Geneva Robertson-Dworet penned the script, having been placed on the 2012 Blacklist for writing a screenplay called Hibernation. The new script will tell the story of a young Lara Croft undertaking her first adventure.

Vikander, our new Lara, previously won an Oscar for her role in The Danish Girl and beat out a list of high-profile actresses to land Tomb Raider, among them The Force Awakens’ Daisy Ridley and Brooklyn’s Saoirse Ronan.
