Wes Anderson Unveils First Trailer for Isle of Dogs

Wes Anderson? Stop-motion? Dogs? Say no more. Just shut the cuss up and take our money already.

Anderson has unveiled the first trailer for his forthcoming film Isle of Dogs, the follow-up to the gorgeous Grand Budapest Hotel. The plot explores an island in Japan to which all dogs have been exiled, so a young boy sets out on an adventure to retrieve his canine. The filmmaker recruited an all-star cast of old and new Anderson staples to voice the characters, including Bryan Cranston, Bill Murray, Jeff Goldblum, Scarlett Johansson, Yoko Ono, Tilda Swinton, Edward Norton and many more.

The bad news: We have to wait until March 23, 2018 to see the movie in theaters. The good news: We have a decent amount of film from Anderson’s oeuvre to keep us busy until then. Watch the trailer for Isle of Dogs above, and find the film’s official synopsis and poster below.

ISLE OF DOGS tells the story of ATARI KOBAYASHI, 12-year-old ward to corrupt Mayor Kobayashi. When, by Executive Decree, all the canine pets of Megasaki City are exiled to a vast garbage-dump called Trash Island, Atari sets off alone in a miniature Junior-Turbo Prop and flies across the river in search of his bodyguard-dog, Spots. There, with the assistance of a pack of newly-found mongrel friends, he begins an epic journey that will decide the fate and future of the entire Prefecture.
