The xx, The National to Headline New 10-Day Music Festival in London

When you google “All Points East,” you’ll find a tour company in Waterlooville, U.K. You’ll also find an announcement for a brand new 10-day festival in East London’s Victoria Park, Tower Hamlets, one that boasts The xx and The National as headliners, among others: The War on Drugs, Future Islands, The Districts, Warpaint, Popcaan and Lykke Li, with more names coming soon.

The festival will take place May 25 to Jun. 3, and, in addition to the “thrillingly diverse” lineup of the opening weekend, will feature a “four-day community focused midweek event … an entertainment programme of comedy, food, outdoor cinema and more to reflect the vibrancy of its surrounding area,” according to a press release. Even John Biggs, the mayor of Tower Hamlets, is excited. He said this in a statement: “The council is pleased to be working with AEG, who were selected following a rigorous procurement process to deliver some exciting events in 2018 which can be enjoyed by local people, Londoners and visitors from across the U.K.”

“After a thrilling four sold out shows at the Eventim Apollo in September, we are excited to take over Victoria Park next summer,” said The National in a statement of their own. “We are already thinking about ways to make this more than just a show.”

All Points East promises to blend the local with the international—its midweek program will be mostly free, with the former community firmly in mind.

Presale tickets are available starting this Friday, Oct 27 at 9 a.m. Find out more about tickets and All Points East in general via the festival’s website, and listen to The National’s 2007 Daytrotter Session below.
