Arcade Fire Reportedly Debuted Six New Tracks at Secret Show

Arcade Fire reportedly played six new tracks on Saturday at a top-secret show in Montreal, according to the Montreal Gazette. Approximately 50 guests were asked to check their phones at the door and spent over an hour listening to material from the band’s last two albums, with the six new tracks peppered in. One guest told the Montreal Gazette that “the new music exhibited pop and electronic influences in the vein of Reflektor.”

New music from the Canadian band is not surprising, as rumors have been swirling of an impending album for months. The band’s drummer, Jeremy Gara, told Red Bull Poland in January that all songs for the album had been recorded and a tour was likely to happen in April. Arcade Fire previously told fans a follow-up album to their 2013 album Reflektor will likely be released in spring of 2017.

Arcade Fire are scheduled for nearly a dozen European festivals during the summer, and EU tour dates between all of the festival appearances were revealed in February.

The band has been known to play secret concerts before big releases, so while no date has yet been announced for the release of their fifth album, this is a good indication that one might be coming quite soon this summer.

Nevertheless, while waiting you can listen to Arcade Fire’s most recent track, “I Give You Power,” here. Stay tuned for more on the mysterious Reflektor follow-up.
