Inaugural BabeFest to Celebrate Music, Comedy and Political Activism

Music News

Righteous Babe Records and folk singer Ani DiFranco are organizing an inaugural music festival called BabeFest in Buffalo, N.Y. on Friday, Aug. 26. The festival is a fusion of music, comedy and social activism, and this year’s goal is to get people to vote. Held in Babeville, Buffalo, BabeFest will feature appearances from DiFranco, The Daily Show co-creator Lizz Winstead and singer Chastity Brown. BabeFest is an extension of DiFranco’s VOTE DAMMIT tour, which hopes to increase voter participation in local, congressional and presidential elections.

Proceeds from the event will go to The Roots of Music, which gives New Orleans students access to music education, as well as to Lady Parts Justice, an organization founded by Winstead that fights for women’s reproductive rights through humor. Tickets are for sale starting Friday, June 24 through this link. See the flyer below for more information.
