Bad Bunny Pays Tribute to Kobe Bryant in New Song “6 Rings”

Puerto Rican trap artist Bad Bunny shared a tribute track he made to honor the late Kobe Bryant on Tuesday, sampling a heartfelt speech of Bryant thanking his fans.

NBA legend Kobe Bryant was killed in a helicopter crash on Sunday, Jan. 26, in Calabasas, Calif. The eight other passengers on the plane, including his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, were also killed.

Bad Bunny’s song alludes to Bryant’s five NBA championship rings and his wedding ring: “You won 6 rings, 5 with the NBA and one in a marriage that gave you your daughters / Thinking that one of them left with you, got me outta control / But nah, it’s so you don’t play ball alone in heaven.”

Bad Bunny took to Instagram Monday to publicly mourn Bryant’s loss, writing about how inspiring he found the basketball player from a young age. The translation reads: “I never imagined that this would hurt me so much! I still remember the first time that I went to a basketball game, at age seven with my dad, and it was a game with this genius, and from that day forward he became my favorite player! I never mentioned it before because it doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with music, but this man has been an inspiration in many ways for me to be the person that I am today.”
