Hear Megan Thee Stallion and Normani on “Diamonds” from the Birds of Prey Soundtrack

In honor of Birds of Prey’s arrival on Feb. 7, the same curators of Suicide Squad’s multi-platinum soundtrack are assembling an all-female, all-badass soundtrack titled Birds of Prey: The Album. The soundtrack is set to feature original recordings from Doja Cat, Saweetie, Sofi Tukker, Halsey, Summer Walker and more. After Hot Girl Summer and Motivation Fall, this is the kind of collaboration we need. The trap-pop track finds the Texas rapper and former Fifth Harmony member playing quintessential baddies, a distinctly feminine bop that’s as materialist as it is aggressive. The video notably has a few nods to Madonna’s legendary “Material Girl” video and liberally uses clips of Margot Robbie as lovable clown Harley Quinn from the film. The pair sound like a natural duo, creating a girl-gang track worthy of standing next to Nicki and Beyoncé’s “Feeling Myself.” After the chart success of Ariana, Miley and Lana’s Charlie’s Angels theme “Don’t Call Me Angel,” it seems there’s precedence for youthful, girl-led action blockbusters as well as their accompanying trappy anthems, and it’s about time for it.
