Bottlerock Day 1 may have been breezy and fun, but it also rang slightly hollow—Modest Mouse headlining slot aside, Macklemore snacking on chicken with Martha Stewart is more the climax of some pop culture fever dream than the product of a carefully curated musical fest, which Saturday and Sunday’s offerings definitely are. Yesterday yielded an especially nice parade of folk, alternative, veteran hip-hop and classic rock, including sets from Judah & the Lion, Michael Franti and Speahead, The Devil Makes Three, Ani DiFranco, The Shelters, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The fest also continued its exploration of gourmet celebrity culture, with appearances from Richard Blais, Cindy Pawlcyn, Tim Love and Masaharu Morimoto, who had a mammoth fish in tow. Amy Harris captured the culinary and musical cacophony in the gallery above. Check back tomorrow for her Sunday photos, including Foo Fighters and The Strumbellas.
