Butch Walker Releases Optimistic New Song, “Stay Gold”

Music News Butch Walker

After ruminating on his father’s death in 2015’s Ghosts, Butch Walker is shaking in his boots to return to bone-rattling, raucous tunes in Stay Gold.

Georgia native Walker released the title track from his eighth studio album today. Pulling from the classic S.E. Hinton novel and Coppola film, The Outsiders, Walker uses the signature line, “Stay gold, Ponyboy,” as a reminder to keep your chin up. With a dash of country twang, “Stay Gold” is unabashedly teeming with optimism while emphasizing the necessity of independence.

Stay Gold is due out Aug. 26. Listen to the title track here and check out Walker’s previously released Stay Gold song, “East Coast Girl,” here.
